broken house and tiredness
8th October 2004, 12:30 pm

my god, apologies for the exceptionally long time it's taken me to update. the reason for this is that we don't have internet access in our house yet (actually we don't even have a phoneline yet, as the old one disintergrated or something, so we have to get that installed before we can install broadband). so i'm sat on the pcs in the perak labs, rather than going to my lecture, which is happening right about now.

to be honest, i'm so damn knackered that all i can think about is going home and going to bed. unfortunately home lies on the top of a very VERY steep hill, and i haven't worked up the enthusiasm for it yet.

got my access to learning funds form yesterday, and spent most of last night filling it out. wrote out my entire life/sob story in the "supporting section" bit, which took a lot of emotional effort, and then sat trying to wangle my income/expenditure figures so that my expenditure is greater than my income. had lots of helpful suggestions from michelle, em and mel (say you had to buy a microwave... ooh and socks!) and i finally got it to go over... just. not hopeful at all though, i'm pretty much sure that they're gonna take one look at my form and then throw it in the bin.

also didn't love having to explain to the house how and why my family's so frickin' poor.

house is going fine though, except:

1. shower's broken, and was meant to have been fixed two days ago, but the men never returned.

2. oven door doesn't shut in one of the kitchens, so we've been cooking for 7 in one tiny-ass kitchen.

3. one side of the house's fire alarm was taken away by steve ("i've got the thing to fix this at home, i'll bring it back tomorrow") and never returned.

4. central heating timers have a life of their own, and come on and off even when we take the batteries out.

5. there's now a bath AND a red chair dumped in our back garden.

on a positive note, we have a tortoishell cat come visit us every now again. we've named her kelvinator (after the freezer) and she's excessively cute. i'm hanging on to the hope that she's pregnant, and will soon have 6 orange kittens in our house somewhere.

my god, i am so tired. once we get the net up and running (phoneline's being installed 13/10) i will document my days again. until then, i'll possibly do an update sometime this weekend... possibly.
