cleaned room
9th April 2005, 3:19 pm

I'm back in Sheffield, yay for me. The drive down was pretty uneventful, other than Snake Pass made me feel very hungover. My dad also told me that my house is a "hovel" and fit only for "council house rejects". It's honestly not that bad. Spent last night catching up with people and feeling a little cold, as this house has no double glazing and it still feels like winter in South Yorkshire at the moment.

Have just cleaned and tidied my room. That's right! I got out the polish and dusted all my surfaces, including the manky grooves in my computer monitor. Polished my desk for the first time this year (by this year I mean since September), and am now trying to do some work on it. I'm currently doing BMS280 Developmental Genetics... the first line of my notes reads "Mutations in 11 different maternally expressed genes result in a dorsalised phenotype." I have no idea what a dorsalised phenotype is, and I think I'm meant to. It seems to be mentioned quite a lot in this lecture.

Off round to Lisa's tonight, haven't seen her since I was in Nottingham. We don't seem to have any food in the house, so tea could be a problem. Michelle's not planning on getting up till 5pm, and is then straight off to a summer job interview, so we can't do a big shop either. Looks like it's another co-op based meal then.

Hannah's curretly ill with a cold, and I think I've already caught it after just the one night being around her. My throat has that horrible sticky feeling that only impending phlegm can bring about. Still, only 9 more weeks in this trampy house before we move over to the incredibly-expensive-but-infinitely-better house. Though how any house could be worse than ours is a challenge indeed. We have a safety woman coming round on the 12th, escorted round by Steve the handyman. Hope she brings a sleeping bag.

Hanuman's now sat on my desk, next to my little sleeping Buddha, so I'm feeling very spiritual. I wonder how a person gets into statue making?

The multi-surface polish from the co-op smells like cheap and nasty lemons. Consequently my room will smell of this for the next few days. Yay for me.
